New vaccination status requirements come into effect from 17th December

In accordance with the Queensland Health’s Public Health and Social Measures Directive only fully vaccinated members of the public will be permitted at the Valley Plastic Surgery clinic from 17th December. As healthcare providers, this clinic has a duty of care to protect both the public and their staff, particularly those at high risk of more serious illness, or who are unable to be vaccinated themselves due to medical reasons.

NB: This alert is current as of 17th December 2021 and we will update the information as it evolves.

What are the new requirements for attending my rooms at Valley Plastic Surgery?

All persons over the age of 16 will be required to provide proof of vaccination upon arrival at the Valley Plastic Surgery as of 7am Friday 17th December. The easiest way to do this is to link your vaccination certificate or medical exemption to the Check In QLD app. If you do not have a smart phone, you will need to bring a hard copy of your vaccination certificate.

You will still be required to check in upon arrival each time you attend the clinic and staff will ask to see this before checking you in.

What if I am unable to get vaccinated due to medical reasons?

Firstly, please don’t panic. Simply contact me directly so as we can talk about your personal situation. Patients with a medical exemption may still be permitted to attend a clinic, however each exception will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. You will be required to provide a copy of your exception documentation from your healthcare provider prior to any appointments so as we can complete a risk assessment.

What if I am unvaccinated?

No unvaccinated persons will be able to attend the Valley Plastic Surgery practice. This clinic is a private medical facility and does not have the capacity to safely accommodate unvaccinated patients. VPS see a number of post-operative patients who require critical care, necessitating a high level of risk management. Naturally, I can still undertake tele-health consultations when appropriate.

All staff at the clinic are fully vaccinated and will be required to wear a mask when they are unable to maintain 1.5m of social distance.

As always, the safety of clinic staff and patients alike is paramount, and we will continue to take steps to ensure this.

It’s been a challenging two years and the pandemic continues to be an evolving situation. I truly appreciate your understanding and patience during these unprecedented times and I’m only a phone call away should you wish to discuss any concerns.

Kindest regards - Dr Edwina Morgan
