The New Face Lift: Non-invasive, Minimal Downtime
Non-invasive skin tightening procedures are a popular and effective adjunct to cosmetic treatments and are increasingly in high demand from patients.
Many patients desire a treatment that is for pain-free, low risk and requiring minimal downtime, and others again will be inquisitive about non-invasive skin tightening techniques when they are either contemplative or disinterested in the surgical alternative.
There are many types of gizmos and gadgets on the market, but extensive research over the years has pointed me towards the following stand-out technique, which I offer in my daily practice:
Micro-needling with HA infiltration
Micro-needling employs the principle of improving superficial circulatory effects and collagen stimulation that occurs as a result of multiple fine needles piercing the superficial layer of the epidermis. The growth factors triggered by this event are responsible for the beneficial effects of minimising scars, fine lines and photo-damaged to the skin.
Once the series of needles permeates the skin, a thin layer of cross-linked HA is injected, thus enhancing skin hydration and suppleness.
The downtime for this procedure varies from patient to patient. Ultimately, the more invasive a procedure, the more it will evoke the body’s inflammatory response. This, in turn, will lead to more effect, and potentially longer lasting results.
